At the Smits Perez Family Office, we invest in companies that solve real problems with positive impact. Run by Marcel Smits, some of the sectors we invest in are across sustainability, sports, agriculture, tech, and space.
SF Investment Management Pte Ltd is the investment office of the Smits Perez family. The family is Dutch and Venezuelan; the office is incorporated in Singapore, established in 2022 after a career in business spanning Europe, the Americas and Asia. We manage the capital of a single family and do not manage external money.
As a family office, we invest in opportunities where we can have a direct impact. Rather than being passive investors, we typically get involved and help young companies where we can, whether it’s through making connections, helping them think bigger, or providing strategic guidance.
We concentrate on companies with a sustainable angle that have a direct impact, but we diversify across specific opportunities that arise and sectors of interest. Our investments range across tech, aquaculture, aviation, and sports.
Our views and outlook are long-term focused. We like to work with enthusiastic people who are having fun with what they do, and typically don’t invest in young companies with short-term exit plans.

StridyStridy is a non-profit community initiative that organizes litter clean-ups through its app, uniting individuals, businesses, and schools in collective action for a cleaner world. Founded by Marcel Smits, the organization is based in Singapore.
entobelEntobel produces insect-based protein and oil for animal feed, converting low-value organic material into sustainable nutrition. The company operates one of the largest insect protein plants in Asia, in Dong Nai, Vietnam.
Mosa Meat grows beef directly from animal cells, without raising or slaughtering livestock. The Dutch company produced the world's first cultivated beef burger and is based in Maastricht, Netherlands.
Seenons operates a technology platform that connects businesses with waste and recycling partners. The Dutch company helps organizations move toward circular, zero-waste operations without collecting or processing waste itself.
PAL-V develops the Liberty, a commercial vehicle that operates as both a road car and a gyroplane. The Dutch company has secured European road approval for the Liberty.
LiGalli develops the MedRing, a vaginal ring for personalized drug delivery and health monitoring. The Dutch medtech company is based in Leiden and focuses on improving treatment options in women's health.
HydryxHydryx builds methane management systems for landfills, using sensors and automation to capture landfill gas before it escapes and turn it into green energy. The Dutch company is based in Amsterdam.
DroppieDroppie operates recycling stores where households return textiles, electronics, plastics, and deposit containers in one place, earning rewards through its app. The Dutch company is based in Amsterdam.
FirstyFirsty is a mobile data provider offering eSIM-based internet access in more than 170 countries through a single app, with no physical SIM or roaming charges. The company was founded in Amsterdam in 2024.
The Exploration Company is developing Nyx, a reusable spacecraft for cargo and crew missions to low Earth orbit and the Moon. The European company was the first to sign a Space Act Agreement with NASA.
Hatch BlueHatch Blue invests in early-stage companies across aquaculture, ocean health, and blue carbon through its accelerator programs and funds. Founded in 2017, the group runs programs across Europe, North America, and Asia.
York City FCYork City is an English football club founded in 1922, playing its home matches at the LNER Community Stadium in York, North Yorkshire. The Smits family holds a minority shareholding in the club.
Pacific HybreedPacific Hybreed develops climate-resilient oyster and clam seed by applying hybrid breeding techniques long used in agriculture to shellfish. The company is based in Port Orchard, Washington.
FundamentalFundamental develops NEXUS, a large tabular model trained on billions of real-world tables to predict outcomes from enterprise data. The AI lab is based in San Francisco.
Joby Aviation is developing an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for air taxi service. The California-based company is working toward commercial passenger flights.
Director
Through SF Investment One Pte Ltd and SF Investment Two Pte Ltd, Marcel manages family office matters. He is an enthusiastic investor in companies that solve real problems with positive impact. His investments include Mosa Meat, Entobel, Seenons, PAL-V, Joby, LiGalli, and The Exploration Company, among others. These are domains that pique his interest, supported by driven and socially capable people.
Senior Associate
Kern is an investment associate with a background in private equity. He leads due diligence and analytics, and keeps track of our positions across the portfolio. Kern also supports negotiations from time to time.
Personal Assistant
Devi is Marcel’s personal assistant and helps across all the administrative work at SF Investment Management Pte Ltd. Devi brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge in administration from her career at Cargill.
Associate
Conrad is an investor and associate with a background in business development, marketing, and growth operations across the tech industry. Conrad has also worked at one of the portfolio companies, Firsty, for two years where he was one of the founding members.
Analyst
Eric is an analyst with a background in M&A. He played Division I soccer at Northwestern University in Chicago and later at NYU, where he earned his master's in Sports Management. Eric is closely involved in the family's investment in York City FC.
